Patient Screening
Apnea Management Services (AMS) offers in-home
apnea screening for patients with suspected obstructed,
central and complex sleep apnea. This screening technology
provides the referring physician with a report on the
patient’s cardio-pulmonary function and can aid
in a determination of the need for further evaluation
in a Sleep Disorders Center for PAP therapy to treat
sleep disordered breathing. The recording device used
for this screening process weighs less than 3 ounces
and is attached to the patient with a strap around the
chest. It uses the most advanced technology available
providing a very reliable night-time recording of several
important sleep apnea indicators.
Once the test has been ordered by a physician the patient
will be scheduled for a visit to AMS. The staff will
provide instructions on the use of the device and train
the patient on the procedures to attach a few sensors
to the body at various locations. Back at home, when
the patient is ready to go to bed, they apply the sensors
as trained. The battery-operated recording device is
pre-programmed by the technologist to start automatically
at the patient’s normal bedtime, and stops recording
in the morning. The patient returns the device to AMS
the following day where the data is downloaded and analyzed
by a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. Test
results are reviewed by our medical staff and a report
is sent back to the referring physician. |

The miniature electronic
screening device records a number of cardio- pulmonary
signals during sleep. |
| |
The patient receives easy instructions
from AMS staff on how to connect a few sensors
when at home. |
| |
At home the patient can sleep comfortably
in their own bed as the device records automatically. |
| |
The next day the screening device is
returned to AMS where the recording is downloaded
and analyzed. |

A
report generated from the test is forwarded
to your physician
within 48 hours for review and recommendations. |
